Answers to questions you might have for your wedding photographer

1. No I won’t have an assistant on the day or any work experience with me.

2. My style is modern/reportage and is the more relaxed approach to candid wedding photography. I worked on a newspaper located in Richmond, Surrey for 5 years and have found a Press background is ideal for this ‘fly-on-the-wall’ style. I now freelance for The Times in London. Remember, it’s your wedding and you can have whatever you wish on the day. I’m more than capable of organising any size group too. You’re welcome to give me a list of up to 10 posed groups you’d like taken on the day. Of course I’ll always take a few more if required.

3. I shoot on very high quality professional digital Canon EOS 1ds SLR cameras, using Canon L lenses with BW filters and Canon flashes. Although my equipment is very reliable indeed I have 2 or 3 of everything as I’m aware anything can happen on the day. I use professional CF memory cards and also a professional Fujifilm lab for all printing. Before every shoot the cameras and lenses are cleaned and the batteries charged.

4. Yes the original CD ROM is available in various packages and is the equivalent to owning the negatives from the days of film. It works out significantly cheaper for you when it comes to reprints and I can recommend the same lab I use as colours and print quality do vary massively from lab to lab.

5. Everything is shot in colour on the day and only after your wedding are certain shots selected to be switched to B&W. Digital Manipulation on Apple Macs can take 10 to 15 hours, including album building, for an entire wedding and every image is gone through and out of focus shots, blinks and bad composition etc are removed.

6. I have covered weddings since 1994 and shoot around 40-50 a year in Surrey and London and is my full time occupation. I also cover Press & PR events too. Your wedding will be the only shoot on that day. People give me anything from 24hrs notice for a wedding to 4yrs and have managed 4 people to 400 on my own with perhaps a little help from ushers and the best man.

7. My testimonials are available to view online.

8. Yes I will be the photographer at your wedding but If I happen to be unwell for example, and can’t be with you on your day, then I will arrange for a colleague to cover for me. I am also a member of www.photofill.co.uk who can also arrange for cover at very short notice. Anything is possible but just for the record I have never missed a wedding since becoming a freelance photographer on 8th August 1994 and cover 40-50 weddings every year.

If you’d like to meet up with me to discuss photography for your wedding then my actual office is located in Weybridge, Surrey. I am available to pop over to you or meet you at the venue or a coffee shop for example. I have 2 complete wedding albums, 2 beautiful wedding books and a laptop portfolio for you to view.
